The D3s Ushers In…What…A New Body Cap?!

_BMP7520That’s right, after who knows how many years (I know someone knows that answer), Nikon has updated the venerable BF-1A body cap. Yep, the new body cap first being seen on the D3s is a totally new design. Is that a big deal? Well, it can’t be accidentally used on a teleconverter (it would take some force which should warn you to stop) which is really common, especially on the TC-14e. And it’s really easy to put on and off with gloves.  So those are two new things. The BF-1B (on the right) not easily mistaken for the cap for the TC-14e as with the BF-1A (on the left) when working in the dark is a biggie.  That’s because the BF-1B had ridges which you can easily feel. Not earth shattering but I think it’s kinda cool since I’m the one handed teleconverter to when it comes time to take off the wrong body cap.
