Simple Click – And the Door Slams Closed
When we were told the stories of what happened during the 36hrs of the riot, I couldn’t help but just say to myself, “This IS Hell!” Then I started to walk around and take in the surroundings and the light and was doing so when I came upon this scene. This was for some poor soul once a home, then a prison and then the last thing he saw on this planet.
When I was looking down, I saw on the cement the scraps of all the times the door opened and closed, locking in some poor soul. I simply put the camera on the ground, literally, opened up the lens to throw out of focus the scraps and then went click. And both images, minus exposure was a must to deepen the shadows and color.
